Many of the pictures in this gallery date from the 1990s, when I lived in Mid-Wales. At the time I carried a sketchbook with me whenever I travelled and made drawings everywhere I was stationary for long enough. I began to produce a lot of still life paintings in the early part of the decade and it remained a common theme for the next ten years or so. Many of the images shown were drawn with a soft waxy pencil and painted over with gouache (a type of watercolour) – a few include mixed media such as oil, pastel and ink.
The images in the current slideshow include paintings from Wales, Thassos in Greece, Charente in France and a few at Derek Jarman’s cottage at Dungeness.
